Two or three months ago I received first promotional (digital) copy of new Ovnimoon Records compilation – The Call Of Goa and I was asked to do review for it and today I finally managed to write down proper review for this one. What can I say about this compilation? 20 tracks carefuly selected by Renato Brnić aka Nova Fractal, with over 155 minutes of finest modern Goa trance. First part (Disc 1) contains melodic stuff with artists such as: Mindsphere, Trinodia, Nova Fractal, Agneton, InnerSelf, JBC Arkadii, etc. While second part contains names such as: Asirion, Ajanta, Celestial Intelligence, CoaGoa, Crossing Mind, etc.

CD1
01 - Mindsphere - Last Hope 138 8:03
02 - Agneton - Azure Epos 148 6:47
03 - InnerSelf - Hidden Worlds 142 6:36
04 - Psychowave - Supernova (Lunar Dawn Remix) 146 7:01
05 - Arronax & Weedran - Acid Sunshine (2012 Edit) 144 7:36
06 - Hotep & PsiloCybian - Organic Elements 146 6:58
07 - Nova Fractal - Mass Extinction 145 7:53
08 - Trinodia - Zeta Leporis 142 8:51
09 - Javi & SkoOma - Totoro 145 9:21
10 - JBC Arkadii - Fraktal Diving 150 8:46

CD2
01 - Ajanta - Ouroboros 146 7:26
02 - Alien Message - Arc Prime (White) 145 7:17
03 - Celestial Intelligence - Spiritual 143 8:04
04 - Ephedra - Creation of the Moon 148 6:45
05 - Asirion - Muona 146 9:32
06 - Hypnagogia - Angular Pulsation 147 8:23
07 - Gazzuar - Dirty (2012 Edition) 138 6:53
08 - JIS - The Journey 145 8:16
09 - CoaGoa - Algae Forest 143 8:25
10 - Crosing Mind - Trip Through128 8:38

I’m not gonna do review for each track and instead I’m just gonna mark couple of tracks which I find great. First CD kicks off with Mindsphere’s Last Hope track and it’s a great start, a 138 BPM track in style of Patience For Heaven, very melodic, but intelligently melodic, with awesome storytelling and beautiful oriental melodies. Many people liked PFH, so I’m sure this one will receive good and positive reactions too. Next track that caught my attention is Arronax and Weedran collaboration track ‘Acid Sunshine’ with brand new rework which I find great. Acid Sunshine got oldschool feeling but it’s well produced and during the whole track you can feel great acid elements and semi-melodies, love it.

Next track is from Psilocybian and Hotep, my fellow croatians, guys who are more into full-on/psytrance side of things (Psilocybian however already made couple of Goa tracks with his side-project Screw Loose) and on The Call Of Goa they’re presenting ‘Organic Elements’ track. What can I say about this one – awesome. It got fullonish kick-drum, but melodic work and arrangement of track gives you feeling it’s 100% goa track. I just hope that they gonna do more of this stuff, well done guys.

Mass Extinction track I’ve heard long time ago, but this version is slightly different and yeah it’s Nova Fractal track - a melodic bomb with fullonish vibe, but more on euphoric, euro trance side of things. I’m not that much into that electronica but this track is very nice and fans of Nova Fractal won’t be dissappointed I’m sure. Good job. Number 8 on this CD is mr. Trinodia from Sweden and his track ‘Zeta Leporis’. Oh man how I love his stuff, he is probably one of the most productive guys in scene and I think people should pay more attention to his stuff, I find it brilliant, unique style which combine best from old and new sound with great production and amazing melodies, yeah that is Trinodia. Maybe he doesn’t drift too much into different territories in his production and maybe he got his formula, but that formula is perfect and in my humble opinion, I’m gonna be happy as long as he is doing this kind of stuff, and for people who wanna hear something different, well…check his side projects.

Right after Trinodia, we got Javi & SkoOma, two rising stars from Belgium, with orginal approach to Goa trance music, something that would fit super on Cronomi compilations. But hey, this track is a bit different, it’s more melodic and I understand why it’s alongside this company of melodic artists, especially after couple of listenings. Totoro will be ture floor smasher, great job.

Second disc also contains couple of tracks which sounds great to me, and first one is opener from Ajanta, a guy who released an EP a year or two on UAF Records and now he is presenting his more darker and experimental approach to Goa. Thumbs up for this, it sounds way better than nitzho stuff and I hope he will do more stuff like Ouroboros track. Celestial Intelligence is another project that I find great and I’m sure you will hear more from them in future. Spiritual is a track that could be more suitable for first cd, because I find it more melodic then a lot of stuff here and style is something similar to Trinodia, very melodic with nice storytelling. Love it.

Hungary doesn’t have that much goa artists, but projects such as Geneoterma and Asirion are something that caught my attention and I’m glad that guys are finding their place on big compilations. Asirion’s Muona is good example of creative and interesting goa trance, well produced and I fell in love with female chants in this track, awesome! Track on number 9 is Algae Forest from a guy who runs UAF Records alongside with Imba, it’s CoaGoa and I already heard this one on his Soundcloud long time ago and it’s just great track, beautiful morning atmospheres, amazing layers and melodies, everything in this track is just perfect and in my humble opinion is one of the best tracks on both CDs. Awesome job CoaGoa! Last track on disc 2 is from maestro Crossing Mind who blessed us with brilliant album on Suntrip in 2012 and now he returns with Trip Through Unconsciousness, a 128 BPM track that perfectly close this compilation. You know what to expect from this guy, so I’m not gonna review it, it’s 110% Crossing Mind awesomeness.

Conclusion – this compilation got some really great tracks and some which I don’t find that much great but overall it’s a wonderful compilation worth buying. It needs couple of listenings to get it as a complete thing but when you get it than it will take you over and you will play it on repeat all day long. Good job Ovnimoon Records and Nova Fractal, this is hell of a rehersal for a new sub-label ‘Time Warp Records’ and I’m sure you will be big players in future!

My favorites are: Mindsphere (!!!), CoaGoa (!!!), Crossing Mind (!!!), Trinodia (!!!), Ajanta (!!), Arronax and Weedran (!!), Javi & SkoOma (!!), Psilocybian & Hotep (!!), Nova Fractal (!), Asirion (!), Celestial Intelligence (!)

Couple of updates

It’s been a while since the last update here, so I decided to share with you some updates regarding new music and of course my design projects. As some of you already know, I’m planing to release five albums this year on my labels Neogoa and Graviton Records (Nova Fractal, Arronax, Blackstarrfinale, PharaOm and Lunar Dawn) and I’m so excited, it will be a busy spring/summer season and I’m looking forward to publish them. At this moment I’m doing couple of artworks and trying the keep myself busy as much as possible, soon I’m gonna post some previews. While you’re waiting for it, you can check my new downtempo mix at Soundcloud called ‘Spring Burgeon’, it is available for free download, so if you like it you can get it in MP3 file format. Have a great day.

ARTIST: Nova Fractal
ALBUM: Fractal Landscape
LABEL: Ovnimoon Records
YEAR: 2012
FORMAT: CD
STYLE:Psychedelic, Goa Trance, Full-On

TRACKLIST:

Through Our Senses (7:24)

Autopsy (7:23)

Perplexed (8:01)

Reality Of Life (8:23)

Sky Technology - Back To Future (Nova Fractal Remix) (8:46)

Perception (7:12)

Connect (7:55)

Common Cold (8:39)

Blindsight (7:55)

PharaOm - Cellar Door (Nova Fractal Sunrise Remix) (7:50)

Nova Fractal, probably my favorite newschool Goa trance artist and definitely one of the finest from Croatia, in my humble opinion. So who is this dude who suddenly started releasing some powerful and highly energetic Goa trance tunes? Well, it is Renato Brnić, 27 years old producer, from Slavonski Brod who started doing some trance music (more on the commercial - eurotrance side of things) and after some time he decided to change his style and voilà now he’s doing proper Goa trance and I like it, so excuse me because I’m not gonna be that much objective (I had privilege to release 80% of this CD on my netlabels during 2011/2012.).

Fractal Landscape kicks off with ‘Through Our Senses’ and intro for this one is gorgeous, lovely atmosphere at the start with nice dive into rhythmic part around 2nd minute. Structure of this track is something that you’ll find in most Goa trance tunes, first couple of melodies introduces you with the ‘theme’ of the track and after the break(s) you get the complete picture, so yup, TOS is something like that and on climax you can just feel the special energy, energy that shows who and what Nova Fractal is. Great track.

‘Autopsy’ - second track on the album and probably the most agressive one, it’s fast with strong beats alongside with that awesome driving fullonish bassline that I dig so much. I know, I know, many of you who’re into Goa trance, don’t like it but in my case, basslines like this one are something that I always love to hear in my newschool Goa (a wise man once told me ‘taste is a taste’), so I’m not gonna care if you disagree with me on this one. Around 4 minute mark, you’ll probably feel tiny dosage of repetitiveness, but hell no, here comes another melody and it closes this track very nicely.

Sometimes I’m so perplexed and probably that’s the main reason why I love the next tune on this album. Nah, kidding, I love it because it’s freakin’ Goa trance awesomness. Yes, I’m talking about ‘Perplexed’, track I’ve heard in demo version for Future Architecture compilation and I was amazed how beautiful this one is, so without any futher thinking, I decided to release it and let me be honest with you here, it’s still one of the favorite tunes among the Goa trance fans, probably because Perplexed got intense melodic work, perfect break and climax afterwards. Best track on the album.

‘Reality Of Life’ is next track and honestly, I find this track average, not because it’s bad or something, but it always sounded kind-of-mellow to my ears. Only part of this track that sounds great is around 06:20 with huge burst of melodies and it finishes nice, but overall it’s not something that I find equally good as other tracks on this album. Now you’ll probably ask: ‘Ummm you don’t like that track but still you decided to release it on DG2, compilation’. Funny thing, but sometimes when you’re doing compilation you got to know that you’re not doing it just for yourself, or for couple of people, you have to know that there are people in Goa trance who actually love mellowish Goa trance approach, with an almost-corny melodies and overall feeling. It’s not a bad track, one more time, but it’s just not the type of Goa trance that I like that much.

Sky Technology’s ‘Back To Future’ remixed by Nova Fractal is next one. It kicks off with nice intro, swirlling effects and sounds all around and after one minute kick starts, semi-melodies, nice pumping bassline, much different than orginal, but still very very nice. Break around 3rd minute is done nicely and melodies afterwards are cool too. It is more relaxed remix and it won’t be that much ‘in your face’ as the orginal tune. I like it.

‘Perception’ was released by Ovnimoon Records on their Mysteries Of Psytrance Vol.2 compilation in February 2012. I think, and feedback regarding that tune was mostly positive. It’s much more melodic than usual Nova Fractal’s work and basiclly you hear the melodies during 80% of tracks duration. Not a bad thing at all, but it’s just a bit over the top.

Earlier this year I decided to unleash compilation of previously unreleased Neogoa demo tracks and one of the was ‘Connect’, track number 7 on Fractal Landscape and I’m happy about Renatos decision to involve this track on album aswell, I find it great and it got that structure that I love, with nice development (especially on melodies), with superb breaks and climax. Connect is great.

Number 8 is ‘Common Cold’, released in 2011 on Main Sequence Star EP. So far I’ve heard couple of versions and I think this one is slightly different than orginal track. What to say about this one? It’s the fastest track on the album and it got the most awesome climax and somebody will find it a bit corny and chessy but I like it, it’s much better than ‘Reality Of Life’ to my ears. Very nice track!

‘Blindsight’ was released on Croatian psytrance compilation ‘Entities 2.0’ earlier this year and it’s a nice tune with neat melodies and a bit slower and calmer background atmosphere. It’s an emotional fullonish Goa trance tune and overall good track.

Last track on ‘Fractal Landscape’ is PharaOm’s ‘Cellar Door’ Sunrise remix. Renato already made one remix for this track and this is another one, a bit shorter than first version of ‘Sunrise Remix’ It’s different than ‘Timeless Remix’ and I’m gonna be honest here, I like more ‘Timeless Remix’, but I’m sure many of you will like this one.

Conclusion - Almost complete ‘Fractal Landscape’ is available for free download and that’s a fact, almost all tracks were published previously around on various netlabels but that doesn’t change the fact that this one is a must have and worthy buying. Collectors will have neat album with almost 80 minutes of highly explosive Goa trance with big melodies and great production, plus new mastering should improve overall quality of the music. I’m greatful to Renato for all his input in Neogoa and upcoming Graviton releases and I wish him all the best with this debut, he deserves it, plus I need to thank him for this promo digital copy of album, so I’ll try to update this review with links for purchase when actual CD comes out on Ovnimoon Records.

Patience For Heaven (7:11)

DISC 2: Inner Cyclone (Remastered)

Painful Stories (11:02)

Mindrama (9:56)

We Have A Dream (7:48)

Operation Side (10:37)

To Infinity (9:32)

Inner Cyclone (11:14)

Fusion (7:33)

Unique experience. Yes, that happened to me few years ago when I discovered and heard for the first time Inner Cyclone (debut Mindsphere album which was released in 2007 by Metapsychic Records for free). It was a delightful journey into energetic and fastpaced Goa trance music filled with great melodies and striking rhythms, and now after few years and bunch of new releases, old Mindsphere still sounds very inimitable and beautiful.

Patience For Heaven is Ali Akgun’s (man behind Mindsphere project) second full lenght release and it was announced on Suntrip Records as double CD, first disc with brand new tracks and second one with new remastered version of Inner Cyclone tracks. When I saw that announcement I was so curious to see will combination Mindsphere + Suntrip deliver another legendary release? With Inner Cyclone, Mindsphere established high standard(s), will he succeed to outperform himself?

Play.

Play it again.

And again.

Holy sh**. When I say it’s best produced Goa trance album in last couple of years I’m not gonna lie you with that statement. Patience For Heaven is just made perfectly, without flaws, with intelligent melodic work, best described as spiritual and emotional. Atmosphere of this release is really deep and unlike the Inner Cyclone, PFH is more calmer and even trippy, you can follow easily all details in songs. When I listened to previews on Mindsphere soundcloud few months before release, I knew it will be different but when you check complete piece than you get a new level of experience, highly positive. There are no bad tracks, everything is at right place, with perfect track list/order. If I must pick favorite, than probably at this moment it will be Ornementation tune, but I’m sure some other track will grow on me after couple of more listenings. PFH #1 Disc – 10/10

Let’s see how Inner Cyclone sounds after Tim Schuldts mastering.

Play.

Better. Much better. Not saying that just to add one more praise to Tims work, I’m saying it because mastering on orginal release in 2007. was bad, too much agressive and indeed, it was great decission for Suntrip/Mindsphere to release Inner Cyclone with new mastering. I’m not gonna review this second disc, there is plenty reviews on Psynews already. You can’t go wrong with this album, it’s a masterpiece.

Conclusion – Probably best release in 2012 and one of the best Suntrips releases for sure. They already delivered great Crossing Mind album earlier this year and now this, you must appriciate their efforts for releasing high quality Goa trance music. Many people who are not that much into modern Goa trance told me that they dislike lack of production qualities in this genre and now I’ll be more than happy to ‘rub their noses’ with this release, because it’s produced perfectly, first disc is more releaxed than Inner Cyclone but also much deeper with superb melodic work and Inner Cyclone is, ummmm like a cyclone, fast, intense and highly psychedelic. If you’re looking for something like that, this might be perfect release for you. Congratulations Suntrip / Mindsphere, you made great album, 10 out of 10 stars from me.

Speaking about the samples, recently I’ve uploaded some new previews on Neogoa’s soundcloud page.

On Neogoa Soundcloud page, this track reached download limit so...

On Neogoa Soundcloud page, this track reached download limit so I decided to upload it on Mediafire, especially because many people seems to like it alot.
Iriy or Irij, according to neo-paganist manuals, was the paradise in old Slavic religion and part of Svarga. This term is probably derived from the word for paradise in contemporary Slavic languages.

Review: V/A - Protozoa 2.0 (Sita Records, 2012)

When it comes to nitzhogoa music, than there is no better example or showcase for that kind of sub-genre than Sita Records, Belgium/Norway based record label run by Elias Gits aka. Agneton and Boris Huskić aka. Goalien. So far they released two compilations – Nitz-ho-goa, Protoza and two albums – Goalien – Psychedelic Dilemma and Persistent Aura – The Grand Julian. Their fifth release is sequel to their Protozoa compilation, entitled: Interstellar Evolution and it’s compiled by label-heads Agneton and Goalien. Is it evolution, well let’s find out!

Artist: Various
Album: Protozoa 2.0
Label: Sita Records
Style: Nitzhogoa

Tracklist:

Goalien - Discarded Entity (Part I) (06:39)

JBC Arkadii - Air (08:10)

Midi Rico - Explosions Wackier (06:58)

Zed Reactor - Vega Sector (08:02)

Dragun - Brave New World (07:04)

Ephedra - Time Machine (07:26)

Phargua - Digital Dew (07:59)

Ephedra - Landscapes From Heaven (Extended Version) (08:17)

Ion Vader - Liquidious Fleshbag (07:53)

Goalien - Discarded Entity (Part II) (08:21)

First track is Discarded Entity (Part I) by Goalien and guess what it starts like one big badass hurricane, a bunch of oriental melodies followed with big beats on 157 BPM. I’m not that much into nitzhogoa music like some of you but in my case, Goalien is the ultimate king and he owns this genre. Discarded Entity proves that – superb track!

I had pleasure to work with JBC Arkadii (Arkadii Tronets, from Russia) on Pantheon compilation and I must admit that I like his stuff and I was very curious about Air track. It starts slowly with little melodies in background, right after that comes rhythm and melody nicely devolpes until first break. Interesting part is around 4th minute mark – some amazing oriental-sounding scales. Nice track!

Third track is from (at least for me) unknown artist called Midi Rico (Boris Hoechstetter from France). Explosions Wackier is energetic track and it got some interesting parts but after couple of listenings it gets dull and boring, but it’s first release so hopefully next one I’ll like more.

Zed Reactor aka. George Antonopoulous from Greece is one of the better representatives of nitzhogoa style. Last year he released full-lenght on Ezel-Ebed Records and now he presents his new track Vega Sector here on Protozoa 2.0. Track got some nice beats but I’m not in best relationship with Zed’s keyboards and melodies, so yeah this track is something similar to material on Interplanetary Entity but with better mastering. If you like Interplanetary Entity you gonna probably like this one too.

Dragun is Hugo Aguair from Portugal and it seems that Brave New World is his debut release (kudos to Elias and Boris for giving an opportunity to new artists). First time I heard this track I tought how chessy it is but after couple of listenings it’s actually pretty solid. Love the melody around 4th minute mark (reminds me on Alienapia) and part which comes after, just great.

It seems that Alexandre Cohen from Ephedra project decided to release as much as possible material in 2012, well that’s actually great, especially because he delivers some solid Goa trance (on Shaltu) and now some nitzhogoa. Time Machine got one of the most epic nitzho drum-kicks, it’s just perfect and love that kind of kicks, something similar Emmanuel from E-Mantra did on Valley Of The Kings track. Interesting part is around 6th minute mark, nice build up and good ending. Solid track!

Phargua is Sander Moyson from Belgium and he is another deb here. Well, unlike the first two, this guy is familiar to me and I remember that I heard some of his works online and it was, hmm, good experience. Let’s see what he brings in Digital Dew track. It’s fast one, 158 BPMs but you won’t feel rush at all, track is somehow deep at some points (after third minute), there are few nice melodies that I like a lot, especially the final one, wow! Phargua is for sure one of the positive findings.

Landscapes From Heaven (Extended Version) is second track from Ephedra on this compilation and it’s a bit faster, but more important – much much deeper and emotional than Time Machine. I love the way he layered this one, melodies are not that much in the forefront and if you’re looking for some deep and emotional nitzhogoa, this would be perfect example. Good work!

Ion Solounias from Greece is man behind Ion Vader project. He already released some tracks on various labels and now he’s presenting his style on Sita Records. Liquidious Fleshbag kicks off very aggressive and you can feel the rush of nitzhogoa rawnes and power. If you ask me I really like this stuff, more aggressive than melodic, don’t take me wrong, this track got plenty of melody but what define better Liquidious Fleshbag is that badass aggressive feeling. Superb track!

Discarded Entity (Part II) is closing this compilation and second part is more subtile than first one. I’m still in love with part I and this one doesn’t excite me that much yet, however it’s good track for the ending of Protozoa 2.0.

Conclusion – Is it better than first Protozoa? - No. It is evolution though and it does presents new artists and yeah, there are some superb tracks here but it would be unfair to discredit first Protozoa, just because the fact that it’s one of my favorite nitzhogoa compilations, so this is something like Terminator 1 and Terminator 2, Alien and Aliens, Star Wars episode IV and The Empire Stikes Back. It’s equally good and I would like to recommend this one not only to nitzhogoa addicts and collectors, but also to all of you who are into melodic and positive Goa trance music. It’s mastered well and it got one damn nice artwork.

From the dawn of human-kind, astronomy as one of the earliest forms of science played huge part in human society, ancient people were obsessed with celestial objects - stars, planets and nebulaes and with question what is out there in endless Cosmic darkness. Even today, with much better technology and super-awesome scopes, we’re unable to give full answer to that question.

During the old era of Goa trance music, back in ’90s, many artists and projects in some way admired and described their own vision of celestial objects, planets, stars. Some of them even named their projects like stars or constellations (Pleiadians, Orion). One of the most influental psychedelic trance albums of all time - I.F.O. was dedication to the Pleiades star-cluster.

Now we are in 2012 and it seems that connection between stars and Goa trance music doesn’t fading and best example is Trinodia’s new effort - Stargazing album on Ovnimoon Records, released few weeks ago. For all of you who aren’t familiar with this great Goa trance project, Trinodia is Daniel Eldstrom from Gothenburg, Sweden. He’s pretty much active in last couple of years, releasing his music on various net-labels such as Underground Alien Factory and Neogoa.

Artist: Trinodia
Album: Stargazing
Label: Ovnimoon Records
Style: Melodic Goa Trance

Tracklist:

Arietis (09:33)

Tau Ceti (10:28)

Ursae Majoris (09:50)

Alderamin (08:20)

Sirius (09:11)

Nashira (09:01)

Groombridge (08:19)

Eltanin (08:08)

Stargazing (06:33)

Album opener, Arietis starts interesting, with some kind of mantra in background with nice melodies in background, tempo is a bit slower and it fits perfectly as an first track for the album. Around 5th minute comes nice melodic play and I like that part A LOT! The ending is also very melodic and more intense than first part of track. Alpha Arietis (Alpha Ari, α Ari, α Arietis), which also has the traditional name Hamal, is the brightest star in the constellation Aries. Distance from Earth ~ 66 light-years.

Second track is Tau Ceti and it’s probably the best showcase of Trinodia’s style, dynamic and melody driven Goa trance with nice build-ups. Part around 3rd minute is just great, melodic blasts comes very strong and it drives you to 5th minute and first break, nice speech and it comes again, with much more power. Great track! Tau Ceti (τ Ceti) is a star in the constellation Cetus that is spectrally similar to the Sun, although it has only about 78% of the Sun’s mass. At a distance of just under 12 light-years from the Solar System, it is a relatively nearby star.

So far, so good. Third track on Stargazing is Ursae Majoris and it starts with harsh melody at the very beginning, beat on this one is powerful and you can feel the nice rising in storytelling during the first part of album. To be honest, melody around 5th minute isn’t my cup of tea, it’s somehow dull, but ending is nice though. 47 Ursae Majoris (often abbreviated 47 UMa) is a solar analog, yellow dwarf star approximately 46 light-years away from Earth in the constellation of Ursa Major. As of 2011, it has been confirmed that three Jupiter-like extrasolar planets orbit the star. Because of this, 47 Ursae Majoris was listed as one of top 100 target stars for NASA’s former Terrestrial Planet Finder mission.

Alderamin what a great name, huh? It must be great track too. And guess what, it is - probably the best track so far, melodies and effects are just great, it drives you whole time and it got nice oldschool feeling. It may sound like cliché, but it got Astral Projection (Dancing Galaxy/Another World) feeling. My favorite so far! Alpha Cephei (α Cep, α Cephei) is a second magnitude star in the constellation of Cepheus that is relatively close to Earth at only 49 light years. It has the traditional name Alderamin, an Arabic name meaning ”the right arm”.

Numero cinque - Sirius (Ra were there). Intro is pretty much mystique but after the beat, complete image of track twists off into different directions - positive and brighter atmosphere in nitzhogoish style. Not really my type of track but overall it’s nice, I’m sure many people will enjoy this one on the dancefloors. Sirius is the brightest star in the night sky. With a visual apparent magnitude of −1.46, it is almost twice as bright as Canopus, the next brightest star. The name “Sirius” is derived from the Ancient Greek: Σείριος Seirios(“glowing” or “scorcher”).

Nashira kicks off with nice rhythm and melody until 4th minute when comes short break and build up afterwards with a bit different melody. It’s more straight-forward Goa trance track and nothing special is going on till end. Gamma Capricorni (γ Cap, γ Capricorni) is a giant star in the constellation Capricornus. It has the traditional name Nashira, which comes from the Arabic - sa’d nashirah for “the lucky one” or “bearer of good news”.

Track number seven is Groombridge and it starts with deep layers and melodic echoes in background. Rhythm and basslines are solid and they fits perfectly with mentioned above. It’s more agressive tune with a bit more solid sound. This one got more diversity in melody and you won’t find any repetition. Ending is similar to intro, which is cool. Groombridge 34 is a binary star system located about 11.7 light years from our own Sun. It consists of two red dwarf stars in a nearly circular orbit with a separation of about 147 astronomical units. Both stars in this pair exhibit variability due to random flares and they have been given variable star designations.

Eltanin is last uptemo track on Stargazing and it’s more party oriented Goa tune, with sexy basslines and interesting melodies through whole track. It builds up slowly but at the end it gets pretty intense. I like it! Gamma Draconis (γ Dra, γ Draconis) is a star in the constellation Draco. It has the traditional name Etamin or Eltanin (Arabic: At-Tinnin‎ The great serpent), and the Flamsteed designation 33 Draconis. Since 1943, the spectrum of this star has served as one of the stable anchor points by which other stars are classified.

Self-titled track closes Stargazing, slower beats followed with deep vocals and nice layers in background describes this track perfectly. It got a bit longer outro but overall solid downtempo goa track.

Conclusion – if you are into Trinodia’s sound than Stargazing is perfect CD for you, it doesn’t stood out from his earlier works and fans won’t be disappointed. There are few tracks that I like more than others but overall it’s nice Goa trance album, produced and mastered well. Artwork also looks very nice, Daniel also made it and it fits nice with music and concept of album. I wanna say just one more time, thanks a lot for CD I enjoyed listening and review it.

It always reminds me on some atolls and exotic corals. However, ain’t gonna think about that especially, knowing the fact that weather in my hometown sucks donkey balls at the moments, during the day it’s ostensibly warm, but right after sundown, it’s freakin’ cold. This one is made (after a long time) with Ultra Fractal 4 with a help from a friend called Photoshop CS3. Zero brushes here, only some fractals, rusty textures and some layering for Omega circle and it’s background. The Omega Point is scheduled for April 1st (it’s not a joke, new Neogoa V/A is on it’s way and it will be super-awesome, I promise).

I’m more than happy to announce that Neogoa as a net-label...

I’m more than happy to announce that Neogoa as a net-label is resurrected, at least just for this occasion and that occasion is The Omega Point compilation. After listening to some unreleased goodies from last year I decided to pick some of my favorites and give them again for free, offcourse, thanks to good will of our dear artists. I can promise two things: 1) it will be 100% goa trance V/A without any experiments with darker stuff 2) it will be available from April 1st. (don’t worry, not fooling around, it’s real stuff). Enjoy in this preview (Nova Fractal track ‘Conected’).

Review: V/A - Shaltu (Suntrip Records, 2012)

Before I start with Shaltu, I’m gonna go few years back in the past to do some silly math. In 2008. they released 3 compilations and 1 album, compilations wins. In 2009. they released 6 albums and 0 compilations, albums wins. In 2010. they released 2 compilations and 1 album, compilations wins. In 2011. they released 3 albums and 0 compilations, albums wins. Are they gonna continue to stick with this interesanting ‘compilations-albums-compilations..” formula/scheme in 2012 I don’t know but what I do know is the fact that you can’t go wrong when it comes to Suntrip’s music. They’re continuously pampering Goa trance fans with great releases since 2004. and it seems they aren’t planning to stop.

Artist: Various
Album: Shaltu
Label: Suntrip Records
Style: Goa Trance

Tracklist:

Ra - Lifethread (09:30)

Crossing Mind - Hydrophobic Visions (08:48)

Nebula Meltdown - Mindstream Continuum (07:40)

Shakta & Deedrah - Lepton Head (Part III) (Filteria’s Z-Particle Remix) (07:52)

InnerSpace - InnerSpace (11:16)

Ephedra & Imba - Emergency Acid System (07:58)

Shani Yantra - Fractal Memories (09:05)

Ra - Time Current (E-Mantra Remix) (08:34)

Sirius - Universe (07:24)

Their first official release for 2012. is compilation Shaltu and this time they’re presenting (alongside with old & already known Suntrip projects) some new names. In promo text they described what Shaltu means (Shaltu, an ancient Amerindian word for the helping spirits of dancing shamans) and I decided to skip some in-depth research of indigenous tribes of America (not gonna lie you here, I love almost everything that has something in common with history and ancient civilizations, but hey, I also love to be first one who posted review for this one here on Psynews).

OK, let’s go, first track is Lifethread from Norwegian Goa trance heavyweights - Ra (Christer Borge-Lunde & Lars W. Lind)and from the very beginning you can feel their trademark sound - little bells and melodies swirls around while basslines slowly and subtly prepares you for rhythm. I must say that sound overall is somehow different than it was on their super-awesome 9th album, this track sounds much fatter with extra depth. First (shorter) break comes around 5th minute and it’s filled with nice melodies, second one around 06:30 mark is longer and in the background you can feel beautiful layers and growth of main melody. Peak of the track comes right after and it’s great. I don’t know when we can expect full lenght from Ra but if it’s gonna sound like Lifethread than don’t be afraid, it will rock!

Stéphane Bèze is man behind Crossing Mind project and he has been pretty much active recently, besides his debut album The Holographic Paradigm on DAT Records in 2010, he released an EP last year on UAF Records and now he appears here on this compilation with his track Hydrophobic Visions. Track kicks off with nice intro and a bit slower beats with catchy effects in background, atmosphere in this one is super, nice melodies swims around and you can feel their warmth. We don’t have some extra huge peak(s) here, especially because it relies more on atmosphere(s) and there is no need for big build-ups and ending of Hydrophobic Visions is nice and emotinal. Like.

Nebula Meltdown is one man project from Finnland of Kristian Aro, man who already released on Suntrip’s Temple Of Chaos compilation. Mindstream Continuum starts something like Hydrophobic Visions a bit more slower and beat comes with awesome and psychedelic bassline, effects in background reminds me on Kali track from Quatermass project which is one of my favorite Goa trance tunes from Pulse series. First break is followed with mystique female voice and 303’s in background. Mindstream Continuum is much more darker than previous two tracks. Ending of track is just perfect, wobbling acid sounds and melodies are just great. So far my favorite track on this compilation.

4th track…woah, wait, what? Shakta+Deedrah with Filteria’s remix. OMG let’s hear it. Forget about slow and emotional intros, there is just small speech at the beginning and the beat comes like a storm, Jannis Tzikas knows how to start a fire for sure! Retro Filteria sound is back people, this remix just bursts with energy and raw power, Lepton Head’s melodies are a bit reworked but the main theme is still here and it sounds - EPIC. Orginal is a classic, without doubt, but this one isn’t something that will cut off the vibe of orginal, no sir, it gives more input and it does that flawlessly. The only break is around 5th minute mark and right after comes one of the most gorgeous climaxes, ever. Pure goa trance smasher, six out of five stars.

On number five is InnerSpace with self-titled track and to be honest I had to use Google for this project because I never heard anything about this guy, so my friend Google told me that InnerSpace is Jörg Schemczyk from Germany and he has been involved in psychedelic trance as a DJ and producer through last 13 years. After Filteria’s remix it’s somehowungrateful to be on number 5. Well, it seems that InnerSpace isn’t somebody who doesn’t know how to do some Goa trance, on the contrary he does it like a baws. 11 minutes of pure madness, perfect play with melodies and effects, great storytelling until 7th/8th minute, and than…BAAAM, one of the most great acid drives ever, pure psychedelic lunacy in absolutley positive way. Don’t know what conclusion to give after this one, it’s probably one of the best findings of Suntrip Records for sure, and probably many people will have an eye on this guy after hearing his work on Shaltu.

Emergency Acid System is collaboration work between my dear buddy Nikola Petrović (Imba), owner of Serbian UAF Records and Belgian Alexandre Cohen (Ephedra). Track starts with short speech and acid effects, soon after comes beat and 303’s starts to expand slowly. EAS doesn’t have any bigger breaks and it’s more straight-forward Goa trance tune with basic melody that come and go from time to time. Around 7th minute melody changes and it’s followed by acid effects in background, very nice climax but it’s shame it didn’t last that much. Not bad track, but not good either (as previous ones).

According to Suntrip’s promo text Fractal Memories is debut appereance of Shani Yantra and probably that’s main reason why my friend Google couldn’t help me out with this one, so appologies because I don’t really know who this guy is. There isn’t any intro in this one, track starts like a hurricane and it’s more melodic and brighter than previous one. Few nice melodies around 2nd minute, it reminds me on Eleusyn’s work (side project of E-Mantra). Fractal Memories is pretty much fast and energetic track but it doesn’t lead me anywhere, it got decent first half but after it all repeats and I can’t say that I’m thrilled. It’s a debut release so I’ll give some credits to this guy.

Number eight is Ra’s Time Current, remixed by Emmanuel Carpus, better known as E-Mantra. Emmanuel is very busy man, he is releasing uptempo (on Suntrip) and downtempo (on Altar) constantly for a few years now and people might think productivity could affect creativity, but that’s not a case with E-Mantra. Last year he released album on Suntrip and now he returns with remix for Ra’s classic. There isn’t some huge difference between orginal and this remix, both got great storytelling, smooth and dreamy atmosphere with technical approach to melody development, the only thing that makes difference here is E-Mantra’s specific sound, many people likes it so I guess that remix will get a green light from Goa trance lovers, one thing is sure he gets a lot of green light from me.

Last and final track is Universe from Croatian project Sirius who currently lives in Macedonia and man behind Sirius is Mario Ruff. If I remember well, last year I bumped on his works online but they were in downtempo genre so I didn’t know that he’s doing uptempo stuff aswell. Universe starts with pretty much fast beat and typical Goa trance basslines, few melodies in background slowly build up track towards the first break around 4th minute. Female(?) speech and rebuild-up of melody on the break is nice, but nothing spectacular, before it ends we can hear melody like on the beginning but slightly different. Not a bad track, but it’s not my style, just because it got that overused-generic-goa-trance-formula which I don’t like honestly.

Conclusion - Shaltu is different than other Suntrip compilations, it’s not that-much into sunny Goa trance like Energy Waves, but it’s not that much into darker spheres of Goa like Temple of Chaos, but yet it got some of both and it gives even more. It’s hard to give definition of Shaltu, just because the fact that we got almost 80 minutes of diverse Goa trance from new and old artists and some tracks got more warmth and positive feelings while some are much more darker (using this term carefully, don’t want anyone to think that they repated vibes from Temple Of Chaos) and more acidish. My favorites are: Mindstream Continuum, Lepton Head (Part III) (Filteria’s Z-Particle Remix) andInnerSpace. Lifethread and Time Current (E-Mantra Remix) are also great but I’m sure others will post enough of praise for thoose two. Hydrophobic Visions is also more than solid. Mastering was done as usual by Tim Schuldt and it sounds flawless. Artwork looks organic and it got warm colours and nice tribal motives which I like but that font is just awful. You can find this release and samples for it on official Suntrip website.
